We’re a community staple, a family business, a local source of pride. We’ve been cooking our meat in-house on an indoor brick pit for more than forty years. While the local community has changed a lot over that time, we’re still just as dedicated to making delicious, high-quality Bar-B-Que that everyone can enjoy.

Sam’s Bar-B-Que was started in 1957 by Sam Campbell, a born-and-raised Austinite. In 1976, after Sam’s death, Dan Mays Sr. took over the business while staying true to Sam’s desire to create quality home-style Bar-B-Que. Today, Dan’s son Brian Mays (pictured on the left) continues the family tradition.

Sam’s Bar-B-Que specializes in all types of meat; from traditional brisket, ribs, mutton, and chicken to side-dish options of baked beans and potato salad, Sam’s Bar-B-Que joint offers home-cooked style meals for all appetites.
